Ammonius of

Alexandria (III century) - Christian philoso pher and theologian. Lived contemporary with Origen. He had been confused with Ammonius Sakkasem, neoplatonikiem, also of Alexandr ia. Bore the same name: Ammonius of Athens, Constantinople Ammoni us, Ammonius Hermia (fifth century). Until the nineteenth century was regarded as the creator of the division of the text of the Four Gospels 1165 passage: 355 to the Gospel of Matthew, 235 for the Gospel of Mark, Luke 343 for and 232 for the Gospel of John. Today, it is usually served in doubt, and to divide normally assigned Euzebiuszowi of Caesarea [1], which went to Jerome.
